choosing your brand colors
Ideally, when creating your brand - you’ll want to have a set of 4-5 colors to be featured on your website and throughout your branding (even if you’re envisioning showcasing a rainbow of colors throughout your website, which can be done through images and accent colors).
It’s not about limiting you, it’s about having a foundation to start with and compliment everything else you’re envisioning for your brand and website as well.
How do you choose what set of colors?
You’ll want a set of colors like this:
Lightest (this is typically white, off white or a general background color of your choice)
Light
Medium
Dark
Darkest (this will probably be the color of the main text of your website - we usually see this as black, dark gray, or any dark color of your choice - for example I have a very dark purple here)
Colors evoke emotions
How do you want your audience/clients to feel? What colors represent your brand values?

Now that you have your 10 words, go back to the color guide and see what colors represent that. Don’t worry about what blue hue you’ll end up with. It may just be helpful to know that you want the color blue to be a part of your brand.

What helped me when I first got started in my business - I literally drove to the hardware/paint store and started playing with paint color cards - grabbing the ones I felt called to and then narrowing it down from there. I acted as if I was painting a room. Since we are building a “home” in the online space, it’s practically the same thing and always a fun activity as well.
